Learn language to launch your profession
Language holds the power to enhance the quality of life, providing the basis of books, radio, theater, film, teaching, and many other forms of communication. Therefore, learning how to use language correctly and effectively in PCC’s English major can lay the foundation for many career opportunities.
For students interested in studying words, language, and communication, the English major provides advanced grammar and writing courses that equip students to use these tools effectively. Students can then apply what they learn to future pursuits in law, writing, business, education, and many other fields.
A variety of literature courses allow students to study in greater depth specific authors and genres, developing a lasting appreciation for literature. As they study classic works, advanced grammar, and writing techniques, students become equipped with language tools that prepare them for a variety of careers.
“The classes I took at PCC definitely prepared me for my career. When I started my first job teaching English, I felt completely prepared for what was expected of me. The caring teachers were great examples of how I as a teacher should minister to my students.” —Leslie (’01 grad) Teacher,
