Greek

BL 101 Elementary Greek (4) This course is a concentrated study of Greek grammar, vocabulary, and syntax. It is designed to acquaint the student with the essentials of New Testament Greek by developing a working knowledge of the form and function of case, tense, voice, and mood. Meets 5 hours a week. Fall sem.

BL 102 Elementary Greek (4) Prereq.: BL 101. This course is a further study of Greek grammar, vocabulary, and syntax, including participles, infinitives, and the various moods of New Testament Greek. Special emphasis is placed on speed and accuracy in translation of I John. Meets 5 hours a week. Spring sem.

BL 201 Intermediate Greek (3) Prereq.: At least “C” in BL 102. This course begins with a review of Greek grammar, then goes beyond to deal with a more detailed study of syntax. The student continues to develop his basic vocabulary and begins a detailed translation of the Gospel of Mark. The student also learns the process of a Greek “word study.” Fall sem.

BL 202 Intermediate Greek (3) Prereq.: BL 201. This course highlights a study of the syntax of the Greek verb and other vital parts of speech. Vocabulary and translation skills are further developed through daily translation in Mark. The student learns the proper techniques for performing a detailed exegesis of Scripture text. Spring sem.

BL 445 Elementary Hebrew (3) A beginning analysis of elementary Hebrew including alphabet, vowels, nouns, particles, adjectives, and other parts of speech. The student majors on learning the strong verb system and basic vocabulary while translating passages from the Book of Genesis. Fall sem.

BL 446 Elementary Hebrew (3) Prereq.: BL 445. A continuation of vocabulary, grammar, course descriptions and syntax. The student will be introduced to the weak verb system. Translation is done from the Book of Ruth. Spring sem.
