English Major

Bachelor of Arts Degree

A Graduate’s Perspective

During the last four years I've developed a great respect for my teachers. They take complex subjects and explain them in ways that make it simple enough for students to understand. They know how to build from basic concepts to more advanced ones and then tie them all together in a way that makes sense. I've been impressed with their care and concern for students. There are countless stories this graduating class could tell of the ways teachers have impacted us. — Rachel, PCC 2010 Graduate

On freshman or upper level, all grammar and writing courses provide the English major ability to polish and refine his knowledge of the English language and learn effective means of expression.

Survey courses in classical English and American literature are designed to (1) acquaint the student with great literary masterpieces, (2) show trends in literature from various philosophies, and (3) lay a foundation for upper-level literature courses. Courses offered on junior/senior levels train effective future English teachers and allow students the opportunity to study in greater depth specific authors and genres, which develops a lasting appreciation for literature.

Academic requirements: Students must have at least a “C” in all English courses. A minor must be completed.

Academic Program Fee: $30 per semester or $7.50 per payment.
