Collegians

Canoeing

The campus men’s and women’s collegians provide the framework for intramural competition in soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, basketball, table tennis, track and field, bowling, swimming, racquetball, wallyball, broom ice hockey, water polo, sailing, kayaking, golf, and men’s flag football and wrestling.

Pan-Hellenic Council

Students serving on the Pan-Hellenic Council are the presidents and vice presidents of each of the 44 Collegians. The word Pan-Hellenic is from a Greek phrase meaning “all Greek,” which in this case, means all the 20 men Collegians and 24 women Collegians. Each Collegian derives its name from Greek letters and has its own mascot.

Pan-Hellenic Council oversees many campus activities, such as Greek Rush when the new students choose the Collegian they wish to join. Collegians are social and service organizations that provide students some of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences at PCC, as well as opportunities for leadership.

Pan-Hellenic Council members elect their own officers and appoint committees to manage vital aspects of college life. For example, the intramural sports committee works with Collegian athletic directors to prepare the budget and purchase sports equipment. Pan-Hellenic is responsible for the evening student mail system and shares responsibility for the Turkey Bowl soccer championship. Pan-Hellenic Council also handles the “Collegian of the Year” award, which is announced at an end-of-year chapel. Pan-Hellenic members are also called to serve at Student Court appeal meetings.

Greek Rush

Greek Rush

Noise, color, fun, food, and spirited excitement are all rolled into one great scene at PCC’s Greek Rush.

Forty-four Collegians (each with its own name, Greek letters, colors, and mascot) host Greek Rush the first Saturday of each school year to display their Collegian spirit and attract new members.

Collegian officers choose a unique theme and prepare weeks in advance competing for the most imaginative, colorful exhibit booths and parade entries. Themes range from Hawaiian to safari to the old west, and cheering collegian members ride down Main Drive on classic cars, horses, fire trucks, motorcycles, and decorated floats. The parade is complete with music and showers of candy thrown to cheering crowds.

New students are always greeted with the special welcome we call Greek Rush.
