Grades 9–12 (including Class 2008 graduates)

Improve your musical talents over the summer with Summer Music Academy. The two-week session, designed for instrumental musicians grades 9–12, provides intensive daily teaching and practice in the excellent facilities of Music AcademyPCC.

Lessons, advanced classes, and group instruction in strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), piano, woodwinds, and brass will be offered. Piano students will also participate in choir. Music Academy provides close daily association between faculty and students, and gives supervision and encouragement for each individual. Attendees will participate in one of many performance groups, and in concerts and recitals.

On Friday afternoon, July 18, an Honors Recital will feature outstanding solo and chamber music performances. That evening attendees will participate in a Gala Concert. Parents are invited to dinner and the Catch the Spirit presentation prior to the concert.

Music Academy participants need to bring their own instruments, at least two fully-prepared selections (with accompanist’s music), and music they are currently working on or are interested in learning. Music will be supplied for orchestra and ensembles. Arrangements may be made to rent instruments. Students should call for further details. Piano students will not need to pay rental fees for the use of pianos.

Music Academy applicants must send an audition tape (audio) to demonstrate their current level of ability (only one applicant per audition tape or CD, and only one instrument chosen per applicant). Applicants should possess musical skills to play at least an intermediate level repertoire.

Instructional Staff
Music Academy features PCC music faculty who hold degrees and have studied under Dr. Alberto or Daisy DeLuca Jaffé. The Jaffés developed the well-known Jaffé Strings Method and Advanced Piano Relaxation Techniques.
