Speech/Drama Camp Speech/Drama Camp focuses on teaching the basics of performance techniques, production technicalities, and the proper use of the voice in public speaking. Each day begins with vocal production exercises and continues with study in performance areas from poetry to readers theater and in technical aspects from costume design to sound. Students will be exposed to production practices and the backstage processes involved in a production.

Participants are encouraged to bring one or two memorized readings for workshops with the instructional staff. Auditions for the play and readers theaters will be held on the camp’s opening day.

During the course of the two-week camp, the students will prepare a short religious play which will be performed on July 18, along with several readers theaters, staged in the College’s Experimental Theater. Parents are invited to dinner and the Catch the Spirit presentation prior to the evening performances.

Instructional Staff
Speech/Drama Camp will feature experienced PCC speech faculty. Each faculty member holds a degree in speech or theater and teaches in the Speech Department of PCC. You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience from these faculty in areas such as oral interpretation, acting, costuming and make-up, storytelling, and scenic design.

Cost
The total cost for each camper is $350 which includes housing, meals, instruction, and materials. A deposit of $50 is required at time of application. The balance is to be paid upon arrival.
