Can I Really Work My Way through College?

A Beka Customer Service

Are you wondering if you’ll be able to handle a job and classes, too? What about time for social activities? With the variety of campus opportunities at PCC and class scheduling designed with you in mind, you can do both. Much of PCC’s student body works part-time and completes class assignments while still being able to enjoy social activities. Students gain practical experience working in many different areas such as dining services, maintenance, security, grounds, office areas, print shop, A Beka Academy, and more.

PCC's Work Assistance Program helps thousands of students pay for their college education.

College costs are often a deciding factor in choosing a college. PCC is very affordable at $7,500 for yearly tuition, room and board, but it can be more affordable with PCC's Work Assistance Program which allows eligible students to earn $1,630 — $4,070 each school year. Summer work opportunities are also available.

Students in this program gain practical experience in one of 48 different work areas such as dining services, maintenance, College office, or print shop.

"But what if I can't handle classes and a job, too?" It can be done. Over 1,800 students complete their class assignments and enjoy Collegian functions, Christian service, sports, and other activities while working part-time.

Here are Some Testimonies of Those Who Are—

Heather from North Carolina says, "Without the work assistance program, I would not be able to graduate debt-free. Because I am an Elementary Education major, working in the Interior Department at Pensacola Christian Academy has benefited me by allowing me to become familiar with the school and meet some of the teachers. I have made some of my best friends through working on campus. Not only does it help me pay for my education, but I also really enjoy the experience."

Ben comes from Indiana and works on the grounds. He comments, "The work assistance program has been an amazing experience for me. In some ways, it has been a second education which has expanded my abilities and provided for my needs financially. The program provides students with a good job in a wholesome Christian environment, scheduled around classes, which provides plenty of time for both classes and socialization."

Ryan is from Florida, and works in the Distribution Center. He says, "I have greatly enjoyed the work program at PCC, benefiting from the convenience of working on campus without having to worry about driving off campus every day to go to a job. I also appreciate how my work hours have easily been scheduled around my classes. It is great to be able to work in a Christian environment. I have greatly enjoyed meeting so many people at work, many of which have become good friends. I met my best friend at work during my freshman year! Perhaps most importantly, because of the help of the convenient work program, I will be able to graduate from college debt-free. I highly recommend the work program at PCC."

Cassandra calls Maryland home, and says, "When I knew that I wanted to go to college, I also knew that in order to pay for college, I would have to work. The work assistance program was an answer to prayer in that it helped to meet my financial need. I would not be able to serve the Lord freely after graduation if I had to worry about paying off college loans. Not only did working in Dining Services meet my financial need, but also taught me important lessons such as responsibility, teamwork, and a good work ethic that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Also, there is a great spirit of camaraderie among the other work students and I have made many great friendships with the people that I have worked with. I will never regret following God’s leading to PCC and the work assistance program."
