English Seminar Inspires Christian Drama

PCC faculty Elisabeth Marlowe brought the audience behind the curtain for this semester’s English seminar. A published playwright herself, Miss Marlowe presented a brief history of playwriting, emphasizing its roots in Christianity. “The story of Christianity was in itself a drama,” she quoted R. H. U. Bloor. Then she added, “Drama brings men back to Jesus.”

Inviting PCC student performers to participate, Miss Marlowe featured key scenes from her play, An Unlikely Christmas Shepherd, explaining her writing technique and purpose for each scene.

Miss Marlowe ended the seminar with a plea for her audience to use drama for ministry and for God’s glory. “Everything in culture is shaped by a playwright,” she said. “Be inspired to write Christian drama.”
