Annual Eagles Classic Invitation Tournament

It’s not every day that high school sports teams get to compete in a college arena, but each fall, PCC hosts the Eagles Classic Invitational Tournament so they can do just that.

This year, volleyball teams from Christian schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee competed in the tournament. They arrived Wednesday afternoon in time for a hot meal in the dining halls and a warm welcome in the Sports Center Arena after the evening Campus Church service. The tournament kicked off Thursday morning with a series of fast-paced competitive games.

Between matches, students had the chance to explore the campus and even visit some college classes. On Friday, the tournament climaxed with the championship game between Rio Grande Christian Academy and Macon Road Baptist School, with Rio Grande winning after three sets. Later on in the evening, first, second, and third place trophies were awarded to winning teams, and individual players were recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship.

To inspire students to reach further as athletes, the teams were invited to watch a Lady Eagles match against the Talladega College Tornadoes in the Sports Center Arena, with the Lady Eagles winning in three sets.

PCC looks forward to hosting this event every year and is excited to welcome both guys and girls varsity basketball teams to campus to compete later this semester and again in the spring.
