At the spring Strings Concert, PCC faculty directed memorable selections for chamber groups and string ensemble. The evening began with “Golliwogg’s Cakewalk” by Debussy, a lively cello quartet that set the stage for the second animated selection: Dvorak’s American Quartet: 3rd Movement performed by a student string quartet. Next, solo violins and cello accompanied by the string orchestra performed Corelli’s Concerto fatto per la Notte di Natale. This piece was originally crafted for a Christmas party in 1690 and reflected the beauty of that first holy night. Overall, the audience gained a great appreciation for the abilities of the string ensembles as they performed each piece with energy and finesse.
