Luis Ramos

A 2007 graduate with degrees in both management and marketing, Luis Ramos (MI) relies on the accounting, finance, communication, and marketing training he received at PCC. “PCC’s classes have definitely given me the tools I need to succeed in the business world,” he said. Luis started with Fifth Third Bank as a bilingual customer service representative, and in less than a year he was promoted to supervisor of the bilingual team in the corporate office.

Now as a Leadership Program Participant at Fifth Third, Luis is currently in a two-year accelerated career program designed to shape the organization’s future leaders. “The program consists of four 6-month rotations among different departments to develop a stronger perspective and broaden my experience in the banking industry,” he said.

“God brought me to the Leadership Program through a referral from a peer manager. I was encouraged to apply, and after an intensive day of interviews, God granted me the privilege to serve in this role. Hundreds of applications are received every year, and it is a great honor and responsibility that God chose me to serve in this program. I am excited to see what God will continue to do as I walk in His guidance.

“I sincerely believe the greatest gift PCC has given me is character training. I believe we as Christians have a great responsibility to submit to our government and authorities because the world is always watching us. My character, respect for authority, and discipline have given me an advantage in the eyes of senior management,” he said. Indeed, Fifth Third honored Luis with the company’s most prestigious award—the Horizon Award—given annually to only a few of several hundred nominees in recognition of outstanding job performance, teamwork, community involvement, and adherence to Fifth Third’s core values.

“I keep the award at my desk as a reminder that God can do great things,” Luis said. “Working in the business field has opened my eyes to the fact that we need more men and women that would stand up for Christ and do the right thing. Honesty, integrity, accountability, and respect are becoming rare, and we need to show that through Christ we can shine in this world and make a difference.”
