Fill the need for Christians in science
The need for Christians in science increases every year, as choices concerning health, environmental, and ethical standards all rest upon scientists’ philosophy of life and its origin. Combining rigorous study and biblical principles, the biology program at PCC prepares students to further the field while defending their faith.
With ample laboratory research time, PCC’s program introduces students to biological systems and processes, providing them knowledge of biology at environmental, cellular, and molecular levels. Biology fuels researchers with an understanding of living organisms so that they can discover relief, prevention, and cures for diseases that affect every species of life. Therefore, students receive thorough instruction in the study of life and living organisms, including their structure growth, origin, distribution, and taxonomy.
Because biology is a natural science, those considering the program are encouraged to have a background in mathematics and chemistry. Students completing the biology program are thoroughly prepared to begin a career in biology or to further their education with advanced degrees. Doctors, veterinarians, botanists, pharmacists, and many other professionals choose to begin their studies in biology, making it a viable degree option.
One of the most important components of college life is academics. Over the past four years, God has used PCC’s high academic standard to stretch me. Each semester brought challenging biology classes that delved deeper into the scientific complexity of God’s creation, maturing my knowledge to a level that is essential for future success. However, it is not only the great amount of information but also the important moral and spiritual lessons brought about by every class that characterized and strengthened my education. I am confident that I have received a solid and well-rounded education that will serve as a firm foundation as I go on to further schooling in the medical field.
