American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC)

The American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) is designed to help you save on qualified education expenses during the first four years of your postsecondary education. You may be eligible to receive a maximum annual credit of $2,500 per student. You, as a student, someone claiming you as a dependent, or your spouse (if applicable) can claim the AOTC on your tax return.

Pensacola Christian College issues 1098-T forms for the AOTC. To facilitate this process, we are required to collect your taxpayer identification number for the purpose of providing you with the 1098-T form.

To receive your 1098-T each of the first four years of your college career, PCC must have your address and Social Security number. You can securely submit this information by January 17, 2025. Forms will be mailed by January 31, 2025.

It’s important to note that under privacy laws and regulations, the tax identification number you provide on the web address mentioned above will be used solely for reporting purposes. It will not be used as an identifier in the PCC student records system.

We are committed to safeguarding your personal information. Please provide your Social Security number (SSN) only when it’s necessary for tax reporting, and be assured that we use secure, encrypted channels and limit access to authorized personnel to protect your data.

Pensacola Christian College adheres to a core principle of not accepting any federal or state subsidies to finance our operations, even indirectly through federal student aid. Instead, we utilize private funds to provide financial assistance to students. The 1098-T form from PCC is a voluntary authorized disclosure of funds expended for qualified higher education expenses, making you eligible for a possible tax credit on your personal income tax.
