The fall semester brings many changes, including new, creative ways to build community. Campus departments have reimagined events and activities to give students the same life-changing PCC experience. From using in-person and virtual options—students will create memories that last a lifetime, all while staying safe and healthy.
Greek Rush, an event that allows students to explore PCC’s collegians, will offer a more relaxed experience this year through Greek Rush Connects. These connects, held in the Sports Center, will feature six different collegian booths each night for eight days. New students are invited to meet members and discover each group’s unique personality. During a virtual Greek Rush via Eagle’s Nest, students will join a collegian of their choice! The following weekend, new students and members can get more acquainted with an in-person Kickoff Meeting.
The Christian Service Expo, usually in the Crowne Centre, will take place in the Commons Florida Room. Currently, Christian Service opportunities do not include any face-to-face options. Students can now serve by cleaning local parks, volunteering at Waterfront Rescue Mission, writing encouraging letters to retirement home residents, or volunteering as Christian Service drivers.
Student Body Meetings will be held virtually rather than in person. Despite the change, Jordan Griffin (Jr., NV), student body president, is eager to see how God will work this year. “We are excited about the new ways of communicating and creating events,” he said. “Not knowing what is coming next is scary, but it’s also exciting because anything is possible. We know God is in control and He has a plan for everything we will ever experience.”
Eagle Mania, a special evening that introduces the Eagles’ athletic teams, has been transitioned to a virtual activity, engaging students through social media. The fall Fine Arts schedule has also been modified to feature one Fine Arts Series, Cyrano de Bergerac.
With upcoming sports, outdoor concerts, and more, students will experience exciting opportunities to make meaningful connections this fall.
All in-person events will follow healthy practices as outlined in the Return to Campus Plan.
