Humanities: Building a Firm Foundation

Quench your thirst for knowledge when you study handpicked classes from a variety of areas. You’ll gain a strong base of general knowledge that spans vocations to give you a solid understanding of the world—from a scriptural perspective.

The humanities major from PCC will allow you to forge your unique professional path. As businesses and companies increasingly seek employees with broad liberal arts studies rather than a specific concentration, you’ll fill a need in the workforce. This major serves as a launchpad for you: whether you have a clear picture of your future or are unsure of what to study.

Combining general history, English, natural sciences, Bible, art, foreign language, and math with your chosen electives will let you customize your experience as you discover your interests and sharpen your skills. And you’ll graduate ready to travel the unique path that God has set before you.


Faith-Based Humanities

Your degree will give you a broad introduction to the humanities using a variety of arts and sciences courses. Taught from a biblical perspective, your classes will shape you into a cultured, well‐rounded Christian professional equipped to serve the Lord in your chosen field. You’ll learn to express yourself fluently on a variety of disciplines and topics while also demonstrating your faith.

  • analyze information from a variety of disciplines using the biblical worldview and
  • demonstrate effective writing skills in a variety of disciplines.

Program Highlights

Worldview and Ethics

Develop strong biblical ethics in a class (PR 411) that will hone your critical thinking skills on a variety of topics. Learn to defend your Christian stances and the concept of absolute truth as it is applied to real‐world issues. You’ll grow firm in your convictions, well-versed in contemporary issues and how they affect society.

Senior Humanities Research Project

Synthesize and apply all you’ve learned in an independent study (EN 431) that allows you to research, write, and present your work. This project empowers you to examine an issue and its biblical implications and see fully how the Bible remains the ultimate source of righteousness in an increasingly secular world.

About the Humanities Program

The purpose of the humanities major is to give students a broad education in the arts and sciences to equip them with the knowledge and skills for a variety of opportunities and to prepare them to serve the Lord more fully.

Students can apply for scholarships to receive financial aid.
