Water, Fun, & Sun: Aquatic Sports & Recreation

Located near the Gulf Coast, PCC provides plentiful opportunities for students to enjoy water sports and recreation both on and off campus.

On campus, the Sports Center water park offers activities rarely available at college-indoor surfing and bodyboarding on a Double FlowRider® surfing wave and sliding on three water slides. Swim Center’s 275,000-gallon pool provides six swimming lanes and three diving boards, making it the ideal location for exercise, diving practice, and a friendly game of water polo. The Swim Center also serves as a “classroom” for the Physical Education program, which offers classes in lifeguarding and water safety.

Less than 30 minutes away, West Campus on Perdido Bay gives students a scenic beach-like setting for sailing, kayaking, and sunbathing. Whether gliding on water smooth as glass or riding high on gusty days, sailing is relaxing and challenging. Students who love water sports but want to learn more can take a class in sailing, learning essentials such as tacking, jibing, strokes, and basic seamanship, as well as rules and techniques for catamaran racing. A class in kayaking is also available.

With PCC’s ideal location in Northwest Florida, students can also visit Pensacola area beaches, which afford some of the world’s most beautiful scenery of white sand and emerald green water.
