Junior and senior nursing students recently gained valuable community health experience while serving the community by taking part in Pensacola International
Airport’s emergency disaster drill. Designed to give local agencies the opportunity to practice handling disasters, the exercise simulated a terrorist attack involving an airplane crash. While the SWAT personnel dealt with the “terrorists” and the fire department put out the plane’s fire, emergency medical personnel treated the victims and transported them to local emergency rooms.
Placed in realistic theater makeup and given scenario cards explaining their injuries, PCC students played the role of the crash victims. By portraying accurate symptoms and acting out various personal situations, the students were a tremendous help to the personnel, with many praising our students for being the best group of victims ever.
