Annual Eagles 5K
Sophomore Carissa Lacombe (Thailand) has an incredibly busy schedule. From her job at Pensacola Christian Academy to her projects as a graphic design major to her Christian Service ministry, she must choose how to use her free time carefully. But because of her fiercely competitive nature and desire to be involved, she chooses to run the annual Eagles 5K. “It’s something I can participate in. I want to get out there and have fun and see how far I can go.”
Each fall, the Eagles 5K brings students together to support their college and enjoy an invigorating run. At 7:30 in the morning on Saturday, October 17, participants will meet on First Street Field and follow the specially marked route around campus.
Marissa Caswell (Jr., OR) had a great time running the 5K last year with a friend. “I like to run—it’s relaxing,” she said. “I think it’s something that everyone should do at least once in their college career. You’ll never regret doing it. You’ll only regret not getting involved.”
Both girls recommend finding a running buddy or a group of friends to race with. “I saw a lot of friends, and we were all trying to beat each other. If I’d see them trying to catch up to me, I’d run faster. And if I’d start walking and they’d pass me, I’d take off again. I just wanted to have fun with it,” Carissa said.
Carissa’s advice is, “If you want to create memories, do it.”
