Addy Awards Revisited
Three students who received awards earlier this year at the annual Pensacola American Advertising Federation (AAF) Addy Awards went on to win awards at the district and national contests. Haley Cobb (’14, MA ’16), Maggie Michella (’16), and Andrew Wiseman (’16) won gold and silver awards at the 4th District Addy Awards for their outstanding designs.
Andrew also won a silver award at the 2016 National Addy Awards for his logo design entitled “Corner Space.” Last summer, Andrew challenged himself to design a different logo every day for an entire month. After asking opinions from friends and visual arts faculty, he selected two logos to submit to Addys. “Winning at the national level is such an honor for me,” Andrew said. “All of design is communication. I love challenging myself to communicate in ways that no one ever has.”
Chair of PCC’s Visual Arts Department, Shawn Thayer, said, “Winning an Addy Award gives students widely-accepted national recognition that enhances their résumés and portfolios, and provides valuable contacts within their professional field.”
