Bergmann Duo & Carpe Diem String Quartet
This Valentine’s week, Pensacola Christian College will welcome two sets of world-renowned performers for the first Fine Arts series of this spring: the Bergmann Duo and Carpe Diem String Quartet.
Husband and wife duo Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann perform extensively all over the world with their “razzle-dazzle” and “electrifyingly rendered” recitals, as the Vancouver Sun praised them. Along with their international fame, the duo also hold the positions of Artistic Directors for a classical concert series in the White Rock area of Vancouver, B.C., and serve as jury members of international competitions.
The Carpe Diem String Quartet is the five-time recipient of the prestigious PNC Foundation’s Arts Alive Award, and has collaborated with world-renown cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Carpe Diem consists of violinists Charles Wetherbee and Amy Galluzzo, violist Korine Fujiwara, and cellist Carol Ou. Best described for their “virtuosity without pomposity,” the string quartet’s innovative programming and diverse repertoire show their versatility in performing genres from traditional to classical to contemporary and folk.
