What To Bring

Since you will share a residence hall room with other students, space is limited. Below are some ideas that will help as you are planning your move. To save space as you travel, note that many of these items may be bought after you arrive either locally or at the Campus Store.


  • Bible (KJV)
  • Clothing (see Pathway for appropriate attire)
  • Twin long bed sheets, pillow, and blanket
  • Towels
  • Clothes hangers (stackable hangers recommended)
  • High-efficiency (HE) liquid laundry detergent, laundry bag or basket
  • Personal care items (toothbrush, soap, toilet paper, etc.)
  • Outerwear for rainy and cooler weather
  • Umbrella
  • Photo ID
  • Social Security Card (for student workers)

Optional Ideas

  • Laptop lock
  • Chargers, extension cords, and power strips (no outlet multipliers that plug directly into the outlet)
  • Under bed storage (up to 7” tall)
  • Small plastic drawers
  • Shoe holders
  • Small safe for valuables
  • Ironing board and iron
  • Trash can
  • Cleaners
  • Toilet brush
  • Coffee maker
  • Crock pot
  • Rice cooker
  • Popcorn popper
  • Blender
  • Fan
  • Lamp
  • Sewing kit
  • First aid kit
  • Non-chlorinated bleach

Items to Leave at Home

  • Weapons: Guns/Taser/stun guns/swords/knives longer than 3”
  • Hazardous items: Combustible fluids/matches/lighters/candles/incense/fireworks
  • Items with open/external heating elements: traditional coffee makers/grills/hot plates/electric skillets/electric burners/waffle makers/toasters/toaster ovens, etc.
  • Entertainment items: Televisions/DVDs/movies/playing (poker) cards
  • Items with divisive symbols
  • Candle/Wax warmers
  • Pets (including fish)
  • Hoverboards
  • Dumbbells or weights
  • Chin-up bars
