President
Dr. Troy Shoemaker was inaugurated as President of Pensacola Christian College in 2012 after the retirement
of the founder, Dr. Arlin Horton. As President, Dr. Shoemaker encourages the growth of Christian leaders as
they prepare for God's calling. His leadership example creates data-driven institutional decisions that
support PCC's mission. The College continues to see growth in enrollment, resources, and ministry
outreach.
His experience extends from the classroom to the boardroom. Prior to his current role as President, he served
in many key leadership positions including 16 years as administrator of Pensacola Christian Academy—one
of the largest Christian schools in America. He has a broad and deep understanding of education and is
considered one of the top experts in the industry as well as a leader in influencing the future of Christian
education.
Dr. Shoemaker loves college students, and he can be found interacting with them between classes, having fun
with them at student activities and sporting events, and encouraging them. He tirelessly seeks ways to improve
the student experience both in the classroom and around campus.
Building upon a rich history and solid biblical foundation, he has launched a new vision for a new era. This
includes transforming the business model to meet needs of an extensive, growing ministry, modernizing and
upgrading the complex infrastructure, recruiting and developing a competent and world-class workforce, and
investing in multiple capital improvement projects such as Rice Tower, the new 11-story residence hall
completed in spring 2019.
Dr. Shoemaker oversees a large and multi-faceted ministry that touches the lives of millions around the
world. PCC celebrates over 21,000 alumni serving the Lord as business leaders, pastors, teachers,
professionals, nurses, politicians, moms and dads. PCC hosts and participates in events to equip leaders in
Christian schools and churches.
He has been married to his wife, Denise, for 31 years. They have three children and five grandchildren.
A popular speaker, he is considered an expert on leadership within and without Christian education. His focus
is to bring practical applications to biblical principles and teach leaders how to be used of God to prepare
the next generation for the cause of Christ.
