Biography

  • Hometown: Born in Salisbury, NC, but grew up in Lima, Peru, as a missionary kid
  • Year graduated:
    • Undergraduate degree: 2023
    • Graduate degree: 2025
  • Major: Secondary Education, History Concentration, Curriculum and Instruction—History Specialization
  • Favorite food:
    • Anything Peruvian but I especially love Empanadas and Tallarin Saltado Criollo
    • U.S. food: I love mac and cheese
  • Favorite place on campus: The oaks by the Sports Center. I love the trees, the breeze, watching the squirrels, and the overall landscaping. I don’t like the sun, so sitting somewhere outside but shaded is a dream!
  • Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 94:18–19 reminds me of God’s promise that He is in control no matter how hard the situation feels.
  • Hobbies/interests: I like reading, cooking, canning, and gardening. I like to think of myself as a mild homesteader.
  • Sports I like to play: I like ultimate frisbee, soccer, and volleyball. I enjoy swimming as well.
  • What attracted me to PCC: I was called to be a teacher in my senior year of high school. I knew the best place to receive the best training was PCC. I came here to follow the calling God had on my life.
  • Advice for future students: Always do the reading! I cannot count how many times I neglected assigned readings and missed important information. It is time consuming, but the benefits outweigh the time spent. I also highly recommend using a “study with me” video when you have a major assignment or need to focus. I relied so heavily on them, and I attribute those videos to helping me complete all my assignments for grad school.
  • One person I would like to meet and why: Ronald Reagan. He is one of the best examples of a competent leader. He did so much good for the U.S. throughout his time both as the president and any other political office he held.
  • Favorite class in college:
    • Undergraduate: Either Principles of Free Market Economics with Mr. Caleb Crocker or History and Trends of the English Language with Dr. Elizabeth Vinaja
    • Graduate: Victorian Era with Dr. Carrie Ordway
  • Best PCC memory: Alumni Homecoming 2023. My parents came from Peru to spend that week with myself and my husband to celebrate the 50th year of the College. We had so much fun with friends, family, the Gala, and meeting some founding members of the College’s legacy.
  • How I spend my free time: Reading, cleaning, cooking, or spending time with my husband. I am a homebody, so any time I have free time, I recharge in my house or just enjoy some quality time with my husband.
  • Most unique places I’ve traveled: The Mitad del Mundo! During a mission’s trip to Ecuador, my dad and I stopped at the equator! It was a unique experience that I will never forget. I’ve also been to the Peruvian jungle on several occasions—still one of my favorite places to visit.
  • People would be surprised to know that I . . . Have been to seven countries! Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.! I’m hoping to add several more! I specifically want to go to Germany. There is a town in Germany where my family line originated—Dassow, Germany.
  • Favorite PCC tradition: Greek Week! This started my junior year of college, and I loved being a part of the planning of it! I was my collegian’s president during the first Greek Week, so I worked hard with my other officers to encourage participation and capture the memories! Go ZAP Leopards!
  • Favorite quotation: “Sometimes, you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” —Dr. Seuss
  • Ideal/favorite vacation spot: Europe! I haven’t been yet, but I am planning a vacation to Europe for my 10th wedding anniversary!
  • Things I can’t live without: My puppies and my husband. We currently have two dogs, a mixed puppy named Winston and a German Shepherd named Schatzi. They bring light and excitement to our little family. My husband is my favorite person; he has been with me through so much. We survived Covid together. Without him, I don’t think I would be where I am today.
  • Fun fact: I can trace my ancestry back through Henry VIII and William the Conqueror!
