Sometimes it’s hard to decide on a major. You’re interested in more than one field, but double majoring isn’t for you.

Declaring a minor gives you more opportunity to broaden your horizons—and it’s something you can add to your résumé after you graduate.

Take a look at the minors list below to see your options. Sometimes, several classes needed for a minor will already be part of your major requirements. In cases like that, you could only need another 9 credits (usually 3 more classes) to complete a minor.

Students should consult course prerequisites to determine how to fit minor requirements into the course sequence of their chosen major. There must be 9 distinct credits between the major and the minor.

Music—Instrumental Emphasis

Minor Requirements: Music minors must demonstrate appropriate ability in one area of applied music and will take instruction in this area for 6 semesters. Second-semester sophomores must successfully complete a sophomore music platform in their emphasis area to be approved for a minor in music.
Music Repertoire: Students with a minor in music must enroll in Music Repertoire each semester they enroll in private lessons after passing sophomore music platform.
Ensemble Participation: Music minors must participate in a performing ensemble 4 to 6 hours, including their last 4 semesters. Performing ensembles that meet requirements for instrumental emphasis are as follows: Orchestra.

Physical Education
