Information Technology: Helping the World Run Smoothly

Today’s world runs on technology. Businesses, churches, charities, and governments all rely on computerized information systems to run their day-to-day operations. And behind the scenes, information technology professionals work hard to keep things running smoothly.

The information technology concentration (A.S.) enables you to step into an entry-level IT position or continue to pursue a four-year bachelor’s degree. You’ll gain broad experience in hardware, networking, and cybersecurity and be well-prepared to earn A+, Network+, and Security+ CompTIA certifications. Additionally, you’ll round out your education with liberal arts courses and Bible courses that form a solid biblical foundation.

Whether you’re looking to start your career in technology or to add to your skillset, the information technology concentration (A.S.) can help you jump into an essential field and influence your world for Christ.

Faith-Based Information Technology

PCC information technology students are firmly grounded in technology studies and trained in the biblical worldview. Faculty are dedicated to training the next generation of Christian technicians, teaching all concepts from a biblical, ethical perspective. Programming and design courses are taken alongside Bible courses, equipping you with the tools to be a successful professional and to make a positive difference in your workplace.

“The courses in the information technology concentration are selected to provide breadth and depth of knowledge and experience that will give each student not only technical knowledge but also character and ethical training to make them conscientious and valuable I.T. professionals.

I planned to become a computer programmer, but God began showing me that He had been preparing me all along for a career in teaching. He had given me excellent mentors who had a heart for sharing what they had learned, and I realized that He was calling me to do the same thing.”

About the Information Technology Concentration (A.S.)

The purpose of the information technology concentration (A.S.) is to prepare students with foundational knowledge and skills for technology-related employment. Students demonstrate competent ability in various computer subjects along with completing coursework to prepare for multiple industry-standard certifications.

Recommended high school preparation for an information technology concentration (A.S.) is one unit of algebra. Opportunities are available to make up this deficiency. In this case, time required to complete an information technology concentration could be expected to increase.

Coursework in this program helps train and prepare students to earn three of CompTIA’s entry-level certifications: A+, Network+, and Security+.
