Graphic Design: Designing the Future

Maybe you’ve always found yourself drawn to the beauty of things around you or you’ve looked at photographs, websites, or billboards and thought to yourself, “I want to make something like that someday.” The graphic design concentration (A.S.) at Pensacola Christian College is a well-rounded two-year degree that provides a solid foundation leading to a variety of job opportunities or a continuation of your education. You will be able to utilize the creativity and basic technical skills in the design field right after graduation or apply them toward a four-year bachelor’s degree that will push your knowledge and skill to the next level.

Your classes will be taught by industry professionals who know the expectations and changing nature of the design field and seamlessly translate that knowledge to the classroom. You’ll gain experience in practical areas like branding, typography, vector illustration, print and web design, packaging, photography, and professional business practices. Watch your ideas—and your future—take shape as you see your designs go from a lightbulb moment to a meaningful, effective work.

Faith-Based Graphic Design

Christian designers have the unique opportunity to create work that glorifies God and edifies the viewer. When you graduate with a graphic design concentration, you’ll be prepared to overcome everyday visual design issues with a biblical perspective and superior creative problem-solving skills.

“I want to see Christian leaders in the tech/design spaces. So often in Christian circles we shy away from technology or new things. But we are missing an opportunity to communicate in different ways and aid in furthering of the gospel. Whether we like it or not, technology influences our culture. My desire is to see students not only understand how to use it but thrive in the space and be put in positions where they can influence culture for good. When new technology advances, often no one knows what the rules will be. I want godly Christians who are skilled in the field to have a voice in how those rules are set.

My wife and I have kids, and when they grow up, I know I will want teachers to invest in them and guide them. So I approach teaching from a parent’s perspective as well. If my kids were my students, would I as a parent be proud of the education they are getting? I want to make sure each class adds value and be that teacher I would want my kids to have.”
